Prelude 02:40
Many moons ago, in a land not so far away, there roamed a wizard, forever searching for the truth. Accompanied by his loyal hound Landoni, the mage wandered the realm. Over stormy mountains, and wild wastelands, across space and time, the wizard walked a path of mystery, to see all that could be seen. This is a tale of knowledge, justice, and power, but also of love, turmoil, and loss. Turn back now, those who are feint of heart. For the truth, can sometimes be too much to bear.

Silken robes, wooden pipe in hand Burning that sweet, sweet leaf, as the sun starts to climb Ink, quill, and spellbook, quarterstaff in tow, Pouched packed with potions, it’s the mage’s time to go Secret keeper, conjurer of tricks Never telling more than what has been asked Mystic of mystery, watcher of the world Forever on a journey, to peer behind the veil Ancient terrors, corrupt souls, Demon fire, prophecies foretold Iron arrows flood the sky Who will you turn to when all goes awry? This is a reckless road, leave all doubt behind The truths you’ll find when you walk the Way of The Wizard Look deep within your mind, power is locked inside You’ll find the key when you walk the Way of… Through the winding, Misty Mountains Beyond the red oak trees, stepping over fallen leaves In sunken temples, solving riddles on the wall Crawling through dungeons, drinking in dwarven halls Searching for answers to questions no one knows The wizard carries on, through the arctic snow Ancient terrors, corrupt souls, Demon fire, prophecies foretold Distant planets, fallen stars, Hidden meanings from afar This is a reckless road, leave all doubt behind The truths you’ll find when you walk the Way of The Wizard Look deep within your mind, power is locked inside You’ll find the key when you walk the Way of The Wizard Ancient terrors, corrupt souls, Demon fire, prophecies foretold Iron arrows flood the sky Who will you turn to when all goes awry? This is a reckless road, leave all doubt behind The truths you’ll find when you walk the Way of The Wizard There is no guarantee that you will understand All that you’ll see when you walk the Way of The Wizard But on this pilgrimage for lost knowledge The truths you’ll find when you walk the Way of The Wizard

Ode to Dog 02:40
Love unlike any other No bond stronger In the day walking in the sun In the night in a thunderstorm I’m there for you, and I know you are too I’ll be with you ‘til the end Holding you in my arms While you’re young, we’ll see the world When you grey, we will still play In the day walking in the sun In the night in a thunderstorm I’m there for you, and I know you are too I’ll be with you ‘til the end Holding you in my arms
5.
Bad Man 03:22
In the west there are whispers of a drifter clad in black His crossbow at the ready, alone he walks the path Those who try to bring him down Find themselves six feet in the ground Nameless nomad in untamed lands Never mess with that bad, bad man No care for good or evil, whoever has the gold If you’re the one he’s after, don’t plan on getting old You can say he’s just a myth, But myths don’t kick down the door Red starlight guides his way Wandering for eternity Fire in the distance, blood is on the wind Signaling that its time to roam again. One more time. There’s no use losing sleep Over things you can’t control Just face the sweet music When your bell begins to toll Those who try to bring him down Find themselves six feet in the ground If you’re brave you can try your hand But don’t say I didn’t warn you Bout that bad, bad man
6.
The sun is rising on the soldiers for the last time They marched through the night to fight for what’s right They stood their ground so brave And it’s earned them an early grave War is made in towers of ivory But war is fought between brothers They lay down their lives for their land Heroes, damned Their backs against the wall They know their odds are small They would not bend a knee to evil men Their loyalty would be their end War is made in towers of ivory But war is fought between brothers They lay down their lives for their land The Last Stand
7.
The moon arrives again And with it comes the screams The evening brings its tragedies No one is spared from loss Each night someone lays their head Down for the last time So live while you can because, It looks like you’re next in line Bring down the hammers, bring down the walls Bring forth the chaos when darkness starts to fall The Night Taketh Away Don’t fear tomorrow, this is your final day You think that I’m wrong You believe you can cheat death The clock is ticking faster now Doom is just around the bend There’s no one who will hear your prayers Best to save your breath my friend Bring down the hammers, bring down the walls Bring forth the chaos, when darkness starts to fall The Night Taketh Away Don’t fear tomorrow, this is your final day Find your life’s purpose Take every risk you can There’s nothing on the other side This is all that you get Bring down the hammers, bring down the walls Bring forth the chaos when darkness starts to fall Bring down the hammers, bring down the walls Bring forth the chaos, when death finally calls The Night Taketh Away Don’t fear tomorrow, this is your final day

about

Pilgrimage of The Purple Wizard is a concept album that tells the tale of a wizard who travels across the world, forever walking a path in search of knowledge, purpose and inner peace. Each song recounts the people and places he comes across along the way, as well as the lessons he learns on the journey. Told from the wizard’s perspective, some of the aforementioned lessons, people, and places the wizard encounters are based on my own real life occurrences. The wizard experiences glory, peace, strife, friendship, and loss along his adventure, and this album brings those tales to life.

This album was made as my senior capstone project for my B.S. in Music Industry from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., during my final semester there.

Recorded at Saints & Sinners Studios.

Thank Yous and Acknowledgements:
What a journey it’s been. Four years ago, I didn’t know if I would be able to make it to this point. But here we all are, and I’m forever grateful for this pilgrimage of knowledge and self discovery.

Thank you to each of the 21(!) other people on this album for making this project a reality! It was an honor to work with such amazingly talented musicians such as yourselves, and I just can’t thank you enough.. And a huge thank you to my co-engineers, Brian Masella and Tom Evans! Y’all are the best.

Next, a thank you to some of the fantastic teachers that have helped me reach this point.
Andrew Lee and Sean Wendell, I learned everything I know about recording, mixing, and Pro Tools from you two. I just want to say for all the texts and emails crying for help, thank you for the knowledge and the laughs. Thank you to Sister Nelson for all the guidance as my advisor all four years. Thank you for always helping me when you could, and for all the knowledge I’ve learned from you about the business. Remember kids, and take this home with you: the money is in the publishing.

Thank you to Kelly Bird, my mentor, my counselor, my therapist, my rock, my friend.

Thank you to Kevin Kees, for helping me find my voice, and for teaching me how to truly sing. I wish you could have been here today, for I would not be the singer or the man I am without you. R.I.P.

I’d like to thank all the amazing friends I’ve made at Saint Rose. As a commuter, it was never very easy to hang out with friends and bond with people the way that residents can. But over my four years here, the acceptance and love I’ve received from some of the kind souls in our little Saint Rose community have made driving to school every day for four years worth it. Although I’ve made many friends, I just want to especially thank Tom Evans, Elena Karpoff, Joe Benevento, and Tyler Schmidt. I’m thankful to have you all in my life.

Thank you to my best friends from home, in no particular order: Tyler and David Fish, C.J. Leisenfelder, Kyle Lekkas, and Shayne Cardarelli. Thank you guys for being my homies for all these years and keeping me humble.

Last but not least, to Mom, Dad, Connor, and Landon, words can’t describe the love I have for you all. Without you, not a single bit of this possible. Thank you.
